I've been using Time Machine to back up my computer for over 2 years now. Never had to use it, and it has occasionally decided to turn itself on at the most inopportune times (like while I'm running a processor-intensive compile). But in the back of my mind, I knew it was smart to keep it around. Finally had a chance to use it today. I use Numbers as a bank account ledger, and start a fresh spreadsheet every month. Today, I deleted all the January stuff and got the new February stuff in, and then saved without changing the filename. I had one of those little mini heart attacks! But then I remembered Time Machine, and went in. The file in question had been backed up an hour ago, and I was able to grab it and restore it in under 5 seconds. Unbelievable. This one feature could potentially be worth more than the cost of the computer and the backup drive combined. I am a happy customer. |
